I like to compel the viewer to take a closer look at everyday views. Distance is compressed or extended, shadows are darkened, colors magnified, and shapes tempered in a bright, spontaneous naturalistic style. I portray the cities, streets and beaches of southern California in lively colors.

At times one painting leads to a series while others remain unique as I sift through the familiar sites of Southern California, red tile roofs, shadow patterns on the sand, stucco houses and asphalt streets and the juxtaposition of palm trees.

Primarily a watercolorist I enjoy the smooth flow of translucent color on paper and the ability to soften edges, mute colors, and vary hue. In my Lomita or Green Valley Lake studio, each painting is carefully planned from sketches, studies done on location or photographs. But, once the painting is under way the colors take over and I work with what is happening on the paper. Watercolor can never be completely controlled. Each time something new and exciting happens. My work reflects the excitement of color and my enthusiasm for life.

I studied art at El Camino College, California Sate University Dominguez Hills and under the tutelage of celebrated artists Ron Peckar, Robert E. Wood, Milford Zorns and Frank Webb. I am a member of the Peninsula Artists and my work can be seen at The Artists' Studio Gallery, The Palos Verde's Art Center, and Palos Verdes Art Center's "Art for Fund's Sake," Manhattan Beach "Old Hometown Fair," Laguna Beach "Art-a-Fair," Palos Verdes "Whale of a Day," Malaga Cove lawn shows and other outdoor venues throughout the year.
